Sudden mudslide disaster in Ning'er, Yunnan: Armed police officers and soldiers quickly put into emergency rescue and relief efforts

Affected by heavy rainfall, at around 5:40 am on August 20th, a mudslide disaster occurred in a group of villagers in Tuanjie Village, Mohei Town, Ning'er County, Pu'er City, Yunnan Province, resulting in the destruction of houses, damage to infrastructure such as roads, electricity, and communication, and multiple deaths. At around 14:00, after receiving the emergency rescue order, the Pu'er Branch of the Yunnan Armed Police Force quickly responded and dispatched more than 100 officers and soldiers, carrying 582 sets of professional rescue equipment, to rush to the disaster stricken area. During the journey, due to severe road damage, vehicles were unable to pass. According to the deployment of the rescue command center, the task force is divided into 7 rescue teams, marching into the core area of the disaster on foot in different directions, carrying out tasks such as peripheral surveillance, terrain survey, and on-site rescue. As of 20:20 on August 20th, the task force has assisted in the transfer of 52 affected individuals, 16 vehicles, and 1000 kilograms of supplies and food. They have also carried out personnel search and rescue, road clearance, and material transportation as planned. (New Society)
