The World Chinese Painting and Calligraphy Art Exhibition opens in Hong Kong

The "Hua Cui Sheng · World Chinese Painting and Calligraphy Art Exhibition 2025" opened on the 17th at the Hong Kong Central Library. The exhibition aims to gather the essence of Chinese calligraphy and painting art from around the world, promote the essence of Chinese culture, and facilitate in-depth exchanges and development of Chinese art worldwide. This exhibition is jointly organized by the Hong Kong Committee of the Chinese Calligraphy and Painting World Tour, the Overseas and Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan Chinese Calligraphers Association, the Hong Kong Artists Association, and Lufeng Gallery Limited. It attracts nearly 400 Chinese calligraphy and painting artists from more than 30 countries and regions, including about 120 well-known local artists in Hong Kong such as Lin Tianxing, Xiong Hai, Yi Xing, and Liao Jingmei. The exhibited works cover Chinese calligraphy, traditional and contemporary ink paintings, as well as oil paintings, watercolors, etc., showcasing the level and style of Chinese calligraphy and painting art around the world. The exhibition has a special exhibition area for young artists, showcasing the works of over 20 young and emerging artists from Hong Kong. The chairman of the organizing committee of this exhibition, Wei Qin, stated that the exhibited works have different styles, embodying the understanding and interpretation of the essence of Chinese culture by Chinese artists. These works are gathered in Hong Kong for both artistic display and cross-cultural dialogue. Chen Zhixiong, a renowned calligrapher and painter from Guangzhou and honorary chairman of the Macau Exchange Conference for the World Tour of Chinese Painting and Calligraphy, showcased his 6-foot Chinese painting "The Mysterious Sky Dragon" at the exhibition. He told reporters that this artwork depicts the Guangzhou city flower, red cotton, resembling a dragon and phoenix, and showcases the Lingnan humanistic spirit through this world calligraphy and painting cultural exhibition and exchange platform.
