2025-08-20

On August 16th, the "Painless China - Self medication Guidelines for Common Pain (Inflammatory Pain Chapter)" (hereinafter referred to as the "Medication Guidelines") was officially released with academic support from the Pain Branch of the Chinese Medical Association and the Pain Medicine Branch of the Chinese Medical Association, with the Hospital Pharmacy Professional Committee of the Chinese Pharmaceutical Association as the publishing unit. The "Medication Guidelines" aim to promote the standardization of self medication for inflammatory pain, jointly enhance public awareness of pain, learn scientific medication, and actively manage pain. It is reported that the "Medication Guidelines" released this time are based on the pathological mechanism and clinical characteristics of inflammatory pain, providing a systematic introduction to inflammatory pain, filling the gap in the field of inflammatory pain management, helping the public to overcome the misconceptions of anti-inflammatory and pain relief, and empowering the upgrading of self health management abilities. The Development Report on Pain Medicine (2020) shows that the number of chronic pain patients in China exceeds 300 million, and is rapidly increasing at a rate of 10-20 million people per year. The awareness rate of chronic pain patients is 14.3%, and the consultation rate is less than 60%. Inflammatory pain, as one of the most common types of pain, has long plagued public health. Regardless of the type of pain, it should be taken seriously, and aseptic inflammatory pain should be given even more attention. "Fan Bifa, a member of the" Medication Guidance "expert group and chairman of the Pain Branch of the Chinese Medical Association, said that relevant work should be strengthened to help the public better understand and actively respond to inflammatory pain. The "Medication Guidance" innovatively combines professional medical perspectives with the actual needs of the public, providing precise medication plans for common scenarios and effectively addressing public concerns. Many people have misconceptions about the use of painkillers. If 'enduring pain' is treated as' strength ', blindly taking painkillers, ignoring drug contraindications and applicable scenarios, etc. Liu Maobai, a member of the "Medication Guidance" expert group and the chief pharmacist of the Pharmacy Department of Fujian Medical University Affiliated Union Hospital, stated that the core of treating inflammatory pain is to first fight inflammation and then relieve pain. Non steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), as the core treatment drugs, can achieve precise anti-inflammatory effects by inhibiting inflammatory factors. For the three high-risk groups - middle-aged and elderly people, manual laborers and sports workers, and white-collar workers in the workplace, the "Medication Guidance" proposes differentiated self medication plans to help correspond to different pains and accurately select the best medication. The "Medication Guide" innovatively provides scientific answers to medication management for more than ten high-frequency pain scenarios in daily life, such as post exercise injury pain, joint swelling and pain caused by osteoarthritis, neck, shoulder, back and waist pain, etc. Transforming professional knowledge into action guidelines that are understandable and actionable for the public, achieving the goal of 'one book in hand, self-management'. Short track speed skating world champion Yang Yang, based on his professional experience and public welfare practice, proposed that pain management should be integrated into the daily life scenes of the public. She suggested that a community pilot should be carried out based on the "Medication Guidance", and professional support should be reached at the grassroots level through activities such as health lectures and pain screening. As the core series of the Pain Popularization Toolkit for the Painless China Action, the "Medication Guidance" will be distributed to over a thousand community health service locations, including primary healthcare institutions and chain pharmacies, through the "Community Pain Management Ecosystem" of the Painless China Action. It aims to promote a consensus at the social level that "pain needs early intervention and scientific management", making scientific pain relief the cornerstone of a healthy life for all, and ensuring that every type of pain is taken seriously.
