Seven stars with one arrow! Analysis of Launch Highlights of Lijian-1 Launch Vehicle

2025-08-20

On the afternoon of August 19th, the Lijian-1 Y10 carrier rocket was launched into space from the Dongfeng Commercial Aerospace Innovation Experimental Zone, carrying seven satellites including Zhongke Satellite 05, Multi functional Test Satellite 01, 02, and 03 (Tiantuo 6), Tianyan Satellite 26, ThumbSat-1, ThumbSat-2, and others into their designated orbits. The flight test mission was a complete success. Hu Xiaowei, the commander-in-chief of Lijian-1, introduced that currently, Lijian-1 has accurately launched 70 satellites into the designated orbit, with a total payload of over 7 tons. This rocket will further meet the diverse high-density launch needs of global satellites, and will have the ability to launch over 50 satellites in a single mission. The Lijian-1 Y10 carrier rocket launched this time completed the final assembly testing and satellite rocket docking at the Zhongke Aerospace Lijian-1 Rocket Final Assembly Testing Factory located in Dongfeng Commercial Aerospace Innovation Experimental Zone, achieving the integration of rocket final assembly, testing, and launch for the first time, shortening the overall assembly and testing cycle of the rocket. The high-density launch and multi satellite carpooling launch of Lijian-1 have improved economies of scale, resulting in a continuous decrease in single launch costs. ”Meng Xiangfu, Deputy Commander in Chief of Lijian-1, said that through technological innovations such as multi star stacking adapters and management optimization methods such as rolling backup production and remote testing and launch, Lijian-1 has reduced the launch cost per kilogram of payload to below $10000. At the same time, the carrying capacity has also been improved, with a carrying capacity of 1.5 tons for a 500 kilometer sun synchronous orbit, which can support the launch of more than 50 satellites at a time, reducing the launch cost per unit satellite. The rocket launched this time adopts a brand new configuration of satellite mounts. Sun Liangjie, the deputy chief designer of Lijian-1, said, "The satellite support structure is mainly designed based on the satellite layout and separation timing. This time, a similar double tray structure is adopted, with four satellites arranged on the large tray, a small column section installed in the center of the tray, and a large-sized satellite on top. In order to reduce the structural weight, the large tray adopts a carbon fiber aluminum honeycomb panel form, and the rest of the structure adopts a fully carbon fiber skin beam end frame semi hard shell structure." The main payload of Zhongke Satellite 05 is X-band synthetic aperture radar, with an imaging resolution of better than 1 meter and a maximum observation width of over 300 kilometers. This satellite supports multiple working modes such as beam focusing, banding, and scanning, and has high-resolution, wide width, and fully polarized microwave imaging capabilities. It integrates an intelligent in orbit processing module, which can achieve high-quality in orbit imaging and information extraction. Satellites have outstanding business capabilities in wide range observation scenarios such as polar regions and oceans, and can provide full polarization SAR payload data services. Tianyan 26 satellite is a lightweight and compact commercial satellite for visible light and infrared remote sensing of the Earth. The ThumbSat satellite consists of two satellites, ThumbSat-1 and ThumbSat-2. The main mission of this launch is to verify the low orbit communication capability of the platform and the transmission performance of payload images, providing a low threshold solution for international cooperation in the fields of science and education in the future. Shi Xiaoning, the chief designer of Lijian-1, introduced that Zhongke Aerospace is equipped with a universal interface star arrow separation and deployment device, which has the ability to scale replication and modular upgrading. Under the leadership of Hainan Satellite Data and Application Research Center, ThumbSat satellite will carry out in orbit missions as planned after successful launch. (New Society)
