The reporter learned from the Beihai Navigation Support Center of the Ministry of Transport that the center has recently completed the task of measuring and compiling electronic navigation maps for the Beijing section of the Grand Canal, successfully drawing an electronic navigation map for the Beijing section of the Grand Canal. In June 2021, the Beijing section of the Grand Canal was fully navigable for tourism, and the increase in ship traffic and changes in waterway conditions have made the demand for water traffic safety services more urgent. Entrusted by the Beijing Municipal Commission of Transport, in November 2024, the Beihai Navigation Support Center of the Ministry of Transport organized the Tianjin Maritime Surveying and Mapping Center to use advanced multi beam depth measurement systems, Beidou receivers and other professional equipment to conduct full coverage and high-density scanning of the approximately 40 kilometer waterway of the Beijing section of the Grand Canal. Through scanning, the Beihai Navigation Support Center of the Ministry of Transport accurately captured the overall underwater terrain of the Beijing section of the Grand Canal, measured the water depth distribution of the channel in detail, and drew a precise underwater topographic map; Locate underwater obstacles and determine the location and form of potential hazards such as reefs, sunken ships, and shallow spots; Surveying and mapping were conducted on the bridge on the opposite bank, collecting spatial information on key navigation facilities such as terrain, docks, bridges, and gates on both sides.
