The Census and Statistics Department of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government announced on the 14th that the provisional population of Hong Kong in mid-2025 is 7527500, which remains roughly unchanged compared to the figure in mid-2024. According to statistics, the total population in mid-2025 will consist of 7247600 permanent residents and 279900 floating residents. Between mid-2024 and mid-2025, a net migration of 18200 Hong Kong residents was recorded. During the same period, 35200 people were born and 50000 died, resulting in a natural decrease of 14800 people. A spokesperson for the SAR government stated that Hong Kong continues to benefit from various measures to attract talent and import labor. In the past few years, many people have migrated from mainland China and overseas to Hong Kong to offset the impact of natural population decline, resulting in a stable overall population by mid-2025 and an increase of over 180000 people compared to mid-2022.
