On the 13th, the Cultural Bureau of the Macau SAR Government received a donation of items related to Xian Xinghai from Baikadamova, daughter of Kazakh musician Baikadamova. The donation ceremony was held at the Xian Xinghai Memorial Hall on the same day. Xian Xinghai was born in Macau in June 1905. In the early 1940s, Xian Xinghai's return to China was hindered and he wandered to Almaty, Kazakhstan. At a time when he was alone and suffering from poverty and illness, Baikadamov extended a helping hand to Xian Xinghai, and the two formed a deep friendship. Baikadamova donated items related to Xian Xinghai's time in Kazakhstan, including documents, music scores, and photos. She said that the donated items include Xian Xinghai's music scores, especially the works he created by drawing elements from Kazakhstan's national culture, conveying his indomitable spirit in difficult times. Cai Jianlong, acting director of the Cultural Bureau of the SAR Government, delivered a speech, saying that this year marks the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti Fascist War, as well as the 120th anniversary of Xian Xinghai's birth. The precious items donated this time carry the memories of Xian Xinghai in a foreign land, engraved with the deep friendship with the Baikadamov family, and will enrich the collection of Xian Xinghai Memorial Hall, becoming a vivid teaching material for patriotic education in Macau. After the donation ceremony, Baikadamova also shared the story of Xian Xinghai in Kazakhstan with the young people present. (New Society)
