On August 8th, the reporter learned from the Anhui Provincial Quantum Computing Engineering Research Center that Benyuan Quantum Computing Technology (Hefei) Co., Ltd., together with the University of Science and Technology of China and the Hefei Comprehensive National Science Center Artificial Intelligence Research Institute, has successfully achieved the world's first drug molecule property prediction application based on quantum edge coding technology, and completed real machine verification on China's independent superconducting quantum computer "Benyuan Wukong". This technology is like equipping drug development with a 'quantum microscope'. The relevant research results were published in the Journal of Chemical Information and Modeling. Accurate prediction of molecular properties is crucial for rapid screening of candidate drugs in drug development. Graph neural networks are like using graphs to study drug molecules, where the atoms in the molecule are treated as "dots" and the chemical bonds connecting the atoms are treated as "lines". Although existing quantum algorithms can improve the ability to handle "small dots", they do not know how to handle "lines". This is like a puzzle without key modules, which cannot fully display the true characteristics of molecules. The quantum embedding graph neural network architecture innovatively designed by the research team incorporates the world's first quantum edge encoding technology and quantum node embedding mode, achieving synchronous processing of atoms and chemical bonds at the quantum level for the first time. This innovation significantly improves the accuracy of predicting molecular behavior, thereby significantly enhancing drug discovery efficiency. At present, the real machine application of drug toxicity prediction based on this technology has been launched on the "Origin Quantum Computing Cloud Platform". If the traditional graph neural network method is a 'telescope', then the quantum embedding graph neural network architecture incorporating the world's first quantum edge encoding technology is a 'microscope'. It can not only see the atomic positions clearly, but also capture the interactions of chemical bonds, making drug development move towards' precise design '. ”Dou Menghan, the head of the software development team of "Origin Wukong", introduced that "this technology significantly improves the accuracy of predicting key drug properties: the accuracy of HIV antiviral drug screening has jumped from 73% to 97%, and the accuracy of Alzheimer's disease drug prediction has increased from 64% to 70%. ”(New Society)
