Recently, the 29th Lima International Book Fair was held at the Heroes of Independence Park in Lima, the capital of Peru, bringing enthusiasm, vitality, and rich cultural colors to the city. Although Peru and China are geographically distant, they are affectionately referred to as China's "neighbors" across the Pacific Ocean. In Peru, the Spanish term "fellow villager" is used specifically to refer to Chinese descendants, while the Cantonese term "eat" has evolved into a general term for Chinese restaurants. The Lima International Book Fair is one of the five major international book fairs in Latin America and an important platform for communication and cooperation between the industry and publishers in the region, with strong regional influence and radiation effects. It is reported that Italy is the guest of honor at this year's book fair, with 250 booths and 8 event halls, hosting more than 1000 cultural events covering various fields such as literature, picture books, music, and drama. At the book fair, a delegation from the Chinese publishing industry, including several units such as Guotu Group, attracted the attention of numerous readers and publishers. Expanding from a relatively small exhibition space to an exclusive independent exhibition area; The transformation of the Chinese book exhibition area from single sales to integrating copyright output, cultural and creative display, and characteristic experience is a vivid footnote to the "going global" of Chinese culture, and also reflects the increasing demand of Peruvian readers to understand Chinese culture. Multiple Chinese, Spanish, and Portuguese themed publications, as well as selected exhibitions of over 300 excellent Chinese publications covering traditional Chinese culture, literature, humanities and social sciences, medicine, children's education, and other fields such as "Cultural China: Excellent Traditional Chinese Culture", "Chinese Poetry: Smart Water Beads", and "Healthy Cities: Strategies and Challenges from a Global Perspective"... In front of the Guotu Group booth, local readers browse and purchase books to learn about today's China. The close cooperation between publishing institutions in China and Peru has further opened up the space for cultural exchange. During the book fair, Ricardo Mugelsa, President of the Peruvian Booksellers Association, held talks with a delegation from the Chinese publishing industry on deepening copyright exchanges and expanding book import and export business. The delegation members introduced their respective publishing businesses and performance achievements. In addition, a delegation from the Chinese publishing industry also visited the headquarters of the Peruvian National Publishing Group, the Peruvian People's Daily, and the Andes News Agency. Various parties held discussions on copyright exchange, industrial cooperation, cultural exchange, etc., and reached multiple consensus and cooperation intentions, using books as a bridge to enhance understanding and friendship between the two countries. In recent years, with the continuous expansion of the influence of China's book publishing industry in Peru, more and more Chinese cultural elements have taken root here. At Crisol, the largest chain bookstore in Peru, a delegation from the Chinese publishing industry exchanged views with the general manager of the bookstore, Josmel Pablo Marin Nieto, on book exhibitions, cultural activities, and reached a broad consensus. To deepen cooperation, representatives from both sides signed a memorandum of cooperation on site, opening up broader space for Chinese books in the Peruvian market. The enthusiasm of Latin American readers for Chinese culture has left a deep impression on the members of the Chinese publishing delegation, and has also given them a more intuitive and in-depth understanding of the Latin American publishing market. They stated that this exhibition and visit to Peru provide an important window for the Chinese publishing industry to understand the Latin American market. Latin American readers' interest in traditional Chinese culture, traditional Chinese medicine, and even modern development far exceeds expectations, and there is enormous potential for cultural exchanges between China and Peru. Industry insiders say that the Latin American market has shown strong interest in China's innovative publishing achievements and is eager to learn about the latest breakthroughs in the digital field. The Chinese publishing industry can engage in deep cooperation with local bookstores, establish long-term and stable cultural dissemination channels, and tell Chinese stories in a more accurate and vivid way.
