The joint meeting of the University Council and the Board of Directors of the University of Macau for the 2024/2025 academic year was held on the 4th. Cen Haohui, the Chief Executive of the Macao Special Administrative Region, the Chancellor of the University of Macau, and the Chairman of the University Council, pointed out that higher education in Macao is facing unprecedented development opportunities. The SAR government will support the integrated development of education, technology, and talent, and cultivate and develop new quality productivity in Macao. We hope that the University of Macau will continue to strengthen talent attraction and cultivation, effectively promote the integration of industry, academia, and research, expand international cooperation networks, and help Macau build an international high-end talent gathering highland. Cen Haohui put forward five expectations for the future work of the University of Macau. One is to seize the opportunity of Australian piano integration, play a leading demonstration role in the construction of Australian piano international education (university) city, strictly supervise the entire process of construction projects, and ensure strict compliance with procedures. The second is to strengthen talent introduction and cultivation, make good use of the international platform of universities, focus on key industrial areas of the development of the Australian piano linkage, and accurately introduce high-level scientific research talents and teams from around the world. The third is to promote the deep integration of industry, academia, and research, innovate cooperation models, effectively improve the effectiveness of the transformation of industry, academia, and research achievements, and assist in the development of Aoqin's new quality productivity. The fourth is to enhance the internationalization level of universities, continuously strengthen cooperation with Portuguese speaking countries, English speaking countries, and neighboring countries and regions in Asia, explore the establishment of more practical, flexible, and sustainable exchange programs, and expand the scale of international students. The fifth is to cooperate with the national development strategy and the governance direction of the Macao Special Administrative Region, think forward and take proactive actions, and promote the construction of an educational powerhouse through high-level opening up of education to the outside world. At the meeting, Lin Jincheng, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the University of Macau, and Song Yonghua, President of the University of Macau, respectively introduced the development of the Board of Directors and university construction in the past year, especially the extension of teaching in the cooperation zone and the main plans for the construction of the new campus in the future.
