On July 27th, in Wuwei City, Wuhu City, Anhui Province, two units in the Fenghuang Neck Pump Station for diverting water from the Yangtze River to the Huaihe River Basin at a rate of 80 cubic meters per second to help alleviate the drought, marking the realization of the "dual line diversion" function of the Yangtze River to Huaihe River project. Fenghuang Neck Pumping Station is one of the "double line river diversion" routes of the Yangtze River to Huaihe River project, located at the head of the canal on the Xizhao River line. The station was first put into operation and, together with the Zongyang Pumping Station on the Caizihu line, another "double line river diversion" route, diverted river water, forming a "double line river diversion" pattern. In order to alleviate the drought in Anhui, the Yangtze River to Huaihe River Diversion Project will be started according to unified scheduling to divert river water. In the past 10 days, the Yangtze River to Huaihe River Diversion Project has diverted about 150 million cubic meters of Yangtze River water into the Huaihe River Basin. In 2025, about 360 million cubic meters of water have been diverted into the Huaihe River Basin four times. The Yangtze River to Huaihe River Diversion Project is one of the 172 major water conservancy projects in China, which integrates water supply, shipping, ecology and other functions. The water supply scope covers 55 counties (cities, districts) in 15 cities in Henan and Anhui provinces, with a total length of 723 kilometers and a benefit area of 70600 square kilometers.
