The reporter learned from the National Development and Reform Commission today that in the first half of 2025, the ratio of total social logistics expenses to gross domestic product (GDP) in China will drop to 14%, a decrease of 0.1 and 0.2 percentage points respectively from the first quarter and the same period last year. This means that for every 100 yuan of GDP created, the logistics costs incurred have decreased to 14 yuan. According to comprehensive calculations, China saved over 130 billion yuan in logistics costs in the first half of this year. Reducing the logistics costs of the entire society is an important measure to improve the efficiency of economic operation. In 2024, the ratio of total social logistics costs to GDP in China will be 14.1%. In recent years, China has set a series of development goals around reducing logistics costs. The "14th Five Year Plan for Modern Logistics Development" released in December 2022 proposes that by 2025, the quality and efficiency of logistics services will significantly improve, and the ratio of total social logistics costs to GDP will decrease by about two percentage points compared to 2020. It is reported that in 2020, the ratio of total social logistics costs to GDP in China was 14.7%. The "Action Plan for Effectively Reducing Logistics Costs in the Whole Society" released in November 2024 further proposes that by 2027, the ratio of total social logistics costs to GDP should strive to be reduced to around 13.5%.
