How should summer vacation be arranged? Recently, a survey on summer vacation arrangements showed that 42% of parents enroll their children in three or more interest classes, and many families invest heavily in this. Many parents also give up summer classes and choose 'Poetry and Distances'. Or send the children back to their hometown and have fun in the fields; Or engage in parent-child travel to broaden your horizons. Blank space is a necessary condition for children's cognitive development. Neuroscientists have found that when a person is in a state of emptiness, the default mode network of the brain is activated, which is closely related to the construction of imagination and self-awareness. The schedules filled with various courses are like continuously turning off the switch of this network. In reality, 'excessive arrangement' is quietly consuming children's growth energy. Teachers often encounter situations where some students shuttle between math intensive classes, English speaking classes, and painting training during summer vacation, but after the start of the school year, they experience problems such as lack of concentration in class and low homework efficiency. Psychological assessments show that they are in a "mild state of fatigue". Relevant educational monitoring data also shows that students who participate in multiple training courses during the summer have a much higher level of learning difficulty aversion in the new semester compared to students who arrange their time independently. So how to spend a fulfilling and high-quality summer vacation? A truly high-quality summer vacation should be the integration of "basic framework" and "autonomous space". The basic framework is to maintain a moderate pace, such as fixing 1 hour of reading and 1 hour of physical activity every day; Autonomous space refers to leaving large chunks of unplanned time. The "Three Guidelines for Summer Vacation" implemented by our school are worth referring to: no more than 2 interest classes, at least 1 "unplanned day" per week, and 1.5 hours of "free time without electronic devices" per day. Practice has proven that students who follow these guidelines not only have a more positive emotional state during the summer, but also have stronger adaptability to learning after the start of the school year. Their innovative thinking is much higher than that of children with a full schedule. A truly quality summer vacation should be the integration of "book knowledge" and "life experience". Applying the knowledge learned in practice will be much more vivid than learning from textbooks. For example, children can participate in household chores to the best of their ability, exercise their self-care ability, and develop the habit of diligence and hardship. When enrolling in interest classes, respect the child's wishes. If the child really likes something, there's no need for you to rush them, and they will dive in and learn on their own. If children are forced to learn piano, the melodies they play will be accompanied by unwillingness. The unique value of summer vacation lies in providing a growth environment that is detached from exam evaluations - children learn about the cycle of life by observing the growth of flowers and plants, learn how to get along with peers through games, and understand the meaning of responsibility when trying to do household chores. These seemingly 'useless' experiences are actually important cornerstones for building a sound personality. Ultimately, the significance of summer vacation lies not in mastering many skills or visiting many places, but in allowing children to accumulate the strength for growth through relaxation. Let go of the anxiety of "not falling behind during holidays" and give children autonomy while maintaining a basic rhythm. They not only gain knowledge, but also experience the delicacy of the world and the ease of coping with changes. After all, children who can remember the patterns of summer dragonfly wings must have hidden a more precious light in their hearts than certificates - this is the deep meaning of "leaving blank" during summer vacation.
