It's graduation season again, and artificial intelligence (AI) related talents have become a hot commodity in the job market. At corporate booths and university double selection events, AI related positions such as "big model researchers" and "algorithm engineers" are available with attractive salaries. Currently, AI technology is being integrated into the economic and social operations with unprecedented breadth and depth, reshaping the professional landscape. On the one hand, AI has brought certain impacts to employment. Unlike the industrial revolution in human history, the development of this wave of AI not only leads to the replacement of some repetitive physical labor, but also begins to affect mental labor that is traditionally considered a "safe zone". Human customer service, production line workers, traditional car drivers, and once popular artists and translators are all worried that AI will take away their jobs. On the other hand, AI has not only promoted the vigorous development of emerging industries, but also deeply integrated with the real economy, giving birth to many new industries, new formats, and new models, creating a number of new professions such as "artificial intelligence trainers" and "data annotation engineers", opening up a vast "new blue ocean" of employment. A recruitment website recently released a report titled "Insight into Talents in the Field of Intelligent Driving and Robotics", which stated that the number of new positions in the field of intelligent driving and robotics increased by 28 times in April 2025 compared to January 2024. According to a McKinsey report, the demand for AI professionals in China is expected to reach 6 million by 2030, and the talent gap could be as high as 4 million. Employment is the most basic livelihood. We need to rationally view the relationship between AI and employment, and actively take effective measures to address challenges. It should be noted that there is a significant talent gap in the current AI job market, while some graduates from related majors are unable to meet the job requirements. The structural employment contradiction of "difficult employment" and "difficult recruitment" is particularly prominent in the AI field. Therefore, we need to solidly promote AI education, accelerate the construction of a complete "AI+" adaptive education system, and cultivate more "marketable" AI composite talents. We need to strengthen AI vocational skills training, enhance the adaptability of vocational education and training, promote the improvement of workers' abilities and employment transformation, and lay a "buffer zone" for ordinary people to overcome the "technological storm". At the same time, we need to strengthen scientific research and judgment, improve response plans, carefully grasp the scope, intensity, and pace of AI replacing labor, and deepen public employment services, strengthen social security and unemployment assistance. For example, the government or relevant institutions can provide practical courses such as industrial robot operation and data collection for low - and medium skilled workers in the form of public welfare, develop more flexible social security payment systems for replaced personnel, strengthen the rights and interests protection of flexible employment personnel and new employment forms, and so on. Historical experience shows that technological progress will ultimately create more job opportunities by expanding economic scale. AI is not an "invader" in the job market, but a new engine for productivity growth. By tapping into the employment potential brought by the development of the AI industry and helping workers achieve skill and value leaps, we can use the employment creation effect to mitigate the impact of job substitution and achieve higher quality and more comprehensive employment.
