Chinese medical team conducts training on suitable traditional Chinese medicine techniques in Niger

Niamey News: The 24th batch of Chinese medical teams to aid Niger recently held a training course on suitable traditional Chinese medicine techniques at the Niger Comprehensive Demonstration Hospital, attracting nearly 50 key medical staff, interns from Niamey University School of Medicine, and local traditional Chinese medicine enthusiasts to participate. This training session includes multiple teaching elements such as theoretical lectures, practical demonstrations, and interactive experiences, focusing on the combination of traditional Chinese medicine basic theories with local clinical needs. Chinese medical team captain Zheng Zhida stated at the training opening ceremony that since the establishment of the Traditional Chinese Medicine Diagnosis and Treatment Center in Niger's comprehensive demonstration hospital in 2023, thousands of patients have benefited from traditional Chinese medicine treatment. This training is not only a imparting of medical technology, but also a practice of cultural exchange. In the future, we hope to strengthen cooperation with China and promote the wider application of traditional Chinese medicine in Niger. The content of this training course is rich. Wang Qingwu, the deputy chief physician of the TCM diagnosis and treatment center, gave lectures around the basic theory of TCM, commonly used acupuncture and moxibustion points and operation specifications, and conducted on-site demonstration of acupuncture and moxibustion and moxibustion. Two students with symptoms of headache and numbness actively experienced treatment, and their symptoms significantly improved. Vice Chief Physician of the Rehabilitation Department, Qin Lizhen, lectures on the modern application of traditional cupping therapy. Xie Caihong, the general practitioner in charge, conducted teaching around the "songs of the four main points" of acupuncture and moxibustion and helped students master practical skills through accurate acupoint selection and case analysis. In the practical teaching section, the training also arranged for the teaching of the traditional Chinese medicine health preservation technique "Eight Section Brocade". Under video teaching and on-site guidance, students completed a complete set of movements and personally experienced the traditional Chinese medicine health concept of "combining movement and stillness, and nourishing both body and spirit". After the training, the trainees responded warmly, saying that they had preliminarily mastered the basic operating points of acupuncture and moxibustion, cupping and other characteristic therapies through learning, and increased their interest in traditional Chinese medicine.
