The number of legal persons and other organizations in China has exceeded 200 million

2025-07-01

According to the National Organization Unified Social Credit Code Data Service Center, as of the end of May 2025, the number of legal persons and other organizations in China has exceeded 200 million, including over 66 million legal persons and more than 8.6 million non legal persons. Since the implementation of the unified social credit code system in 2015, a total of 36 types of institutions, including enterprises, individual businesses, social organizations, private non enterprise units, government legal persons, public institutions, grassroots trade union organizations, and rural collective economic organizations, have been registered and assigned codes by 19 registration management departments, including market supervision, civil affairs, institutional establishment, trade unions, and agriculture and rural areas. This has formed an identity identification system for legal persons and other organizations in China. The unified social credit code, as a unique and lifelong identity identifier for legal persons and other organizations, has been widely used in various industries and fields. Government departments can use unified social credit code information to more efficiently and accurately identify and manage various organizational structures, achieving information sharing and business collaboration. All sectors of society can also access relevant information about organizational structures through a unified social credit code, comprehensively understand their credit status, and effectively reduce transaction risks.
