"Chinese online literature has become a world-class cultural phenomenon with 200 million overseas active users, 120000 new overseas local authors and 500000 new overseas local creative works." Recently, the Network Literature Center of the Chinese Writers Association held the 2024 "China Online Literature Influence List" (hereinafter referred to as the List) and the 2024 China Online Literature Blue Book (hereinafter referred to as the Blue Book) conference in Yancheng, Jiangsu Province. The rankings and 'Blue Book' focus on new phenomena and problems in the industry, analyze new trends, and provide objective and authoritative references for Chinese online literature to create new masterpieces and go global. The Blue Book summarizes the development of Chinese online literature in the past year from the aspects of "creative situation, reading situation, IP conversion, industry development, online literature going global, theoretical criticism, team building, and AI influence". It is mentioned that the "going global" of online literature has become a prominent highlight of Chinese culture's "going global", and Chinese online literature is leading the world's cultural innovation ecology. In 2024, many excellent works of Chinese online literature will be collected in famous overseas libraries. Nine works, including "Douluo Continent" and "Tian Dao Library," will be collected in cultural institutions across Europe, such as the Italian Writers Association and the Channing Pavilion Library in the UK. Ten works, including "The Lord of Mystery" and "We Live in Nanjing," will be collected in the British Library. Chinese online literature has received worldwide attention and recognition. In addition to the rapid growth of overseas readers and local authors, as well as the increasing international recognition of Chinese online literature, Chinese online literature is shifting from simple content output to building a global IP ecosystem. The web dramas adapted from online literature such as "Ink Rain Clouds" and "Eternal Night Star River" have landed on multiple mainstream overseas video platforms, sparking heated discussions among overseas audiences. "Journey with Phoenix" has been broadcast in more than 180 countries and regions around the world. "Celebrating the Second Anniversary" has achieved global synchronous release through Disney, and has become the most popular TV series in Chinese Mainland on Disney+platform. The Chinese traditional cultural elements presented in the adaptation of online literature IP (C-Drama) have driven a new wave of overseas "Chinese aesthetics" trend. At the same time, the Chinese online literature IP has become an important part of the world's anime cultural circle. The active peer culture has broken national boundaries, language and cultural barriers, promoted the exchange and mutual learning of civilizations, and enhanced the overseas public's sense of closeness to Chinese culture. The 2024 annual list released by the Chinese Writers Association includes the online novel list, IP influence list, overseas dissemination list, and newcomer list. After strict evaluation, 30 online literary works and 10 new writers have been listed. The person in charge of the Network Literature Center of the China Writers Association introduced that the works on the list have four major characteristics: firstly, the consciousness of creating high-quality novels and literary consciousness has significantly increased, and the content structure of online literature has been optimized. Secondly, the adaptation of online literature IP continues to be popular, with a strong momentum of breaking through boundaries. Thirdly, with the assistance of AI, the overseas dissemination efficiency of online literature has been further improved. Fourthly, young online writers actively face the times, pursue narrative breakthroughs, and strive to forge high-quality works. Among the 10 works on the overseas dissemination list of the "Chinese Internet Literature Influence List", "The Long Princess", "The Call of the Dragon: Infinite Evolution!", "River Clear Sea and Yan" and others have resonated with readers around the world with their innovative popular narrative techniques and strong Chinese style. According to Bai Yu, a writer on the overseas list, Chinese online literature continues to attract overseas readers due to its imaginative settings, intricate plot twists, and constantly innovative stories. She introduced, "This work on the list is my second original fantasy novel 'Black Lotus Strategy Guide'. In 2020, this work was published electronically on a Korean website. In 2024, the web drama 'Eternal Night Star River' adapted from it was simultaneously broadcasted on streaming media in many parts of the world, and was deeply loved by audiences from all over the world. 'Passing through the book' refers to the protagonist in the work who travels through the known plot to become a character in the novel. This setting is the collective wisdom of Chinese online writers, and the 'passing through the book' setting in 'Black Lotus Strategy Guide' is novel to overseas readers. The work is also inspired by Chinese classical literature such as "Strange Tales from a Chinese Studio" and "The Investiture of the Gods", and references Tang Dynasty costumes, cuisine, architecture, local customs, etc., reflecting elements of national style. At the release ceremony of the list, a ceremony was also held for the inclusion of the listed online literary works in the National Library of Tibetan Literature. 30 works were included in the National Library of Tibetan Literature in the form of digital collections, effectively promoting the mainstream and refinement of online literature.
