A spokesperson for the SAR government said that the revised regulations can ensure that trade unions uphold the main purpose of safeguarding and promoting the professional rights and interests of trade union members, and contribute to the healthy development of trade unions. The Secretary for Labour and Welfare of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, Sun Yuhan, stated that the purpose of the revision is to strengthen the maintenance of national security, improve the regulatory system for trade unions, and promote the healthy development of trade unions.
