The Luri Highway in Bolivia, constructed by China Railway Construction International Group, is located in Beni Province in northwest Bolivia, with a total length of 508.07 kilometers. As part of the northern export route of Bolivia's northwest line, the completion of the highway will provide transportation support for industries such as agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry, and tourism in the country. The project is located in the Amazon rainforest and Bolivian cultural protection area. China Railway Construction has integrated the green and low-carbon environmental protection concept into the entire project construction process, maximizing the protection of the natural and ecological environment along the road. The project team works together with the local community to protect the habitats of animals and plants by building animal passages, relocating plants, and setting up rare plant information signs, in order to preserve a pure land for the reproduction and growth of numerous organisms. As a builder of the Luli Highway, I have witnessed the project's emphasis on environmental protection. From the beginning of planning and design, the concept of protecting the ecological environment has been deeply rooted in the hearts of every employee and implemented in every aspect of project construction. Chinese enterprises are not only actively promoting infrastructure construction, but also committed to building a beautiful home of harmonious coexistence between humans and nature in the Amazon rainforest. ——Fernando Vanakuni, on-site engineer of China Railway Construction Bolivia Luri Highway Project, Pakistan Sahiwal Power Station. Pakistan Sahiwal Power Station is located about 120 kilometers southwest of Lahore, the capital of Punjab Province in Pakistan, and is one of the priority implementation projects of the China Pakistan Economic Corridor. The power station is invested and constructed by China Huaneng Group Co., Ltd., integrating green environmental protection concepts into every aspect of scientific research and design, engineering construction, and operation. It has been awarded the Pakistan "Environmental Excellence Award" for six consecutive times. Since its operation in 2017, the power station has effectively alleviated Pakistan's power shortage and made positive contributions to reducing local carbon emissions. We strive to build environmentally friendly power stations. If you come to the Sachiwar power plant area, you can see palm branches and lush leaves, the artificial lake shimmering, and occasional water birds passing over the surface of the lake. This is not only a power station, but also a large garden. The power station has brought significant changes to the surrounding environment and played a key role in restoring local biodiversity. ——Umar Shahid, an employee of the Sahiwal Power Station in Pakistan, started operating the Rosin uranium mine in Namibia in 1976. Since the completion of its equity acquisition in 2019, China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC) has always placed its sustainable development strategy at the core, strictly adhering to the principles of "animal first" and plant protection. Before implementing the resource exploration project, the construction team conducted multiple inspections of rare plants in the project implementation area, set up warning boards for rare plant protection, and established effective plant safety transplanting plans to ensure that each plant is identified, recorded, and transplanted in a timely manner. As an employee of the Rosin uranium mine, what touched me the most was the concept of "life first". We have to undergo safety training before entering the mine every time, and the principles of "animal first" and plant protection are always emphasized repeatedly. We protect the rare plant resources in the desert and take good care of every plant. On this year's World Environment Day, we went to the farm to purchase plants and transported them to the office area for careful planting. We hope to participate in writing the green future of African mining through our own practical actions. ——The Cox's Bazar Wind Power Project in Bangladesh, developed by State Power Investment Corporation Wuling Power Investment, is the first centralized wind power project in Bangladesh. The Cox's Bazar Wind Power Project, with an installed capacity of 66 megawatts and a total of 22 wind turbines, was put into commercial operation on March 8, 2024. The project provides approximately 145 million kilowatt hours of clean electricity to Bangladesh annually, reducing coal consumption by 44600 tons and carbon dioxide emissions by 109200 tons, meeting the electricity needs of 100000 households, and laying the foundation for the sustainable development of Bangladesh's wind power industry. I am proud to be the first wind power operation duty officer in Bangladesh. The wind power industry in Bangladesh has just begun, and the green energy projects invested and developed by Chinese companies have brought many changes to our work and life. We hope that more green power projects can be implemented here in the future to alleviate the electricity shortage and better protect the ecological environment. ——Mohammad Arif, Wind Power Operation Duty Officer of State Power Investment Corporation Wuling Power Bangladesh Division, Uzbekistan 1 GW Photovoltaic Project Uzbekistan 1 GW Photovoltaic Project is invested and constructed by China Energy Construction Overseas Investment Co., Ltd., including a 500 MW power station in Bukhara State and a 500 MW power station in Kashkadaria State. This project is the first large-scale new energy project invested and constructed by Chinese enterprises in Central Asia after the first China China Asia Summit, and also the largest photovoltaic project invested and constructed by Chinese enterprises in Central Asia under the framework of the joint construction of the "the Belt and Road". The project will achieve full capacity grid connection in June 2024, generating approximately 2.4 billion kilowatt hours of electricity annually, making an important contribution to promoting the transformation of Uzbekistan's energy structure. Uzbekistan has embarked on the path of green energy transformation, and this photovoltaic project has laid the foundation for cultivating the next generation of green energy talents in our country. I am proud to participate in this energy project that represents the future, and I look forward to a wider desert becoming an energy base to drive Uzbekistan's development.
