This year marks the 5th anniversary of the promulgation and implementation of the Hong Kong National Security Law. The Director of the Home Affairs and Youth Affairs Bureau of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, Mai Meijuan, recently stated in an interview with media such as China News Service that the bureau cultivates young people's awareness of national security through diverse activities. Pay attention to timely resolution of conflicts and disputes, enhance citizens' sense of gain, happiness, and security. Hong Kong youth are very outstanding, as long as they are provided with learning experience platforms and opportunities, they can recognize the bright prospects for the development of the country and the nation. ”Mai Meijuan stated that this year marks the 80th anniversary of the victory of the War of Resistance Against Japan and the 60th anniversary of the supply of Dongjiang water to Hong Kong. The Youth Affairs Bureau has sponsored youth groups to hold commemorative activities for the victory of the War of Resistance Against Japan and organized them to visit the water conservancy facilities at the Dongjiang water source. Through personal experience, young friends can feel the achievements of national development and understand the importance of maintaining national security in ensuring the sustained prosperity of Hong Kong and the country. She introduced that the Youth Affairs Bureau will establish the "Lianqing Network" in 2023, aiming to connect young people from all walks of life in Hong Kong, and currently has over 20000 members. At the same time, the Youth Bureau provides funding for youth uniform groups to learn Chinese style aerobics, which is also a valuable opportunity to cultivate national security awareness. The Civil Youth Bureau also co organized the "Hong Kong Basic Law Q&A Competition" with the Hong Kong Committee for the Promotion of Civic Education and the Special Administrative Region Government's Constitutional and Basic Law Promotion Steering Committee. The number of participants has been increasing year by year, and has exceeded 37000 this year. Civil affairs work directly faces citizens and all sectors of society, and social stability is the foundation for striving for economic development. ”Mai Meijuan said that the team of the Youth Affairs Bureau has solidly promoted various livelihood services and worked together with other special administrative region government departments to prevent and punish the phenomenon of "soft confrontation". Pay attention to cooperation with district councilors and care teams, timely investigate and resolve conflicts and disputes, cooperate with the administrative goals of the Chief Executive, and ensure smooth policy transition from the "first mile" to the "last mile".
