Beware of the trap of 'high paying part-time jobs'

2025-06-19

Talent market operator Zhang Qiang set up a trap of "high paying part-time jobs" and colluded with Liu Zhuang and Qin Tuo to sell personal information of college students. Recently, the People's Procuratorate of Wujin District, Changzhou City, Jiangsu Province, initiated a public prosecution, and three people were sentenced to three years in prison, partially suspended, and fined by the Wujin District People's Court for the crime of infringing on citizens' personal information. In the summer of 2023, students from several universities in Changzhou received intermediary information for "part-time work, 2 hours a day, daily settlement of 100-200 yuan". Xiaolin, a junior student at a university in Changzhou, recalled that according to the instructions of an agent, he and his classmates came to the Dingji Talent Market located near the university town. After going to Dingji talent market near the university town as instructed, Xiao Lin was asked to fill in a form containing personal information such as name, ID number, mobile phone number, bank card number, etc. without an interview, and then registered Taobao stores and several social apps under the guidance of staff. In just two hours, the staff informed us that "today's part-time job is over" and settled their salary smoothly. There are many students like Xiaolin, and within just two months, hundreds of college students have completed "information gathering" in this talent market. Unexpectedly, students' personal information is being secretly traded. In August 2023, the police investigated the Dingji talent market and uncovered this clearly defined criminal network. This network originated from a company founded by Zhang Qiang in August 2022, specializing in labor recruitment. In June of the following year, Anhui merchant Ding Gang approached him for cooperation: recruiting personnel to register a Taobao store, and packaging it with the registrant information to sell to the online platform Qin Tuo, specifically for selling counterfeit goods. From June 2023, Zhang Qiang, together with Liu Zhuang and others, will operate Dingji talent market: Zhang Qiang will recruit students, Liu Zhuang will operate and register Taobao and Alipay accounts, and the account information obtained will be sent to Ding Gang. The two provided a total of 594 Taobao accounts to Ding Gang, earning over 57000 yuan, with the two sharing equally. Ding Gang resold the information to Qin Tuo, earning over 56000 yuan. These pieces of information were eventually resold multiple times by Qin Tuo and used to open fake online stores. The People's Procuratorate of Wujin District accuses the defendant Zhang Qiang and Liu Zhuang of violating national regulations by selling citizens' personal information to others, and the defendant Qin Tuo of illegally obtaining and selling personal information to others, all of which constitute the crime of infringing on citizens' personal information. The prosecutor in charge of this case reminds that any part-time job that requires the provision of ID photos, bank card U-disks, or cooperation with facial recognition should be vigilant. Before signing documents, it is necessary to carefully read each item and report any personal information that has been abused to the police immediately. (New Society)
