On June 14th, China Cultural and Natural Heritage Day, the "2025 Roots and Souls - Gansu Province Intangible Cultural Heritage Exhibition" was unveiled at the Macau Museum. The series of activities is hosted by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of China and the Social and Cultural Department of the Macao SAR Government, and organized by the Cultural Bureau of the Macao SAR Government and the Department of Culture and Tourism of Gansu Province. It will be held in Macao and will last until July 13th. Gansu Province is located in the upper reaches of the Yellow River and is an important section of the ancient Silk Road. Multiple cultures converge and blend here, giving birth to intangible cultural heritage with strong regional characteristics and diverse ethnic customs. The series of activities covers thematic exhibitions, stage performances, skill exhibitions, and experiential workshops, showcasing Longyuan culture and the charm of the Silk Road in a three-dimensional manner. The special exhibition will be exhibited at the Macau Museum from June 15th, showcasing 35 representative intangible cultural heritage projects such as Dunhuang painted sculptures, Gannan Tibetan thangka, and shadow puppetry. Two stage performances will be held on the 15th and 16th respectively, bringing exciting performances such as Hua'er folk songs, Longtou qin playing and singing, Kongtong martial arts, and more. At the Zheng Guanying Memorial Hall and Xian Xinghai Memorial Hall, inheritors of intangible cultural heritage will provide on-site teaching, including Shan Dan pyrography, Hezhou egg carving techniques, Lanzhou gourd carving, wheat straw painting production, etc. Citizens and tourists can personally experience the charm of intangible cultural heritage. This is a simple art, and the raw materials come from our daily lives. ”Tang Caiping, the inheritor of intangible cultural heritage of straw painting, brought her straw painting skills to Macau for the first time to showcase. She said she hopes that this art can be understood and appreciated by more people, especially young people. The "Roots and Souls - Exhibition of China's Intangible Cultural Heritage" brand event was first held in 2011, using the rich intangible cultural heritage of the country as a carrier to showcase the long history of Chinese civilization and the diversity of national culture, and to expand the breadth and depth of cultural exchanges between mainland China and Hong Kong and Macao.
