The SAR government and industry are exploring innovative financial models to release funds for infrastructure and accelerate the delivery of important transportation infrastructure. Mortgage backed securities for infrastructure loans are an example. Hong Kong has issued two such loans totaling $800 million, supporting over 50 projects in the Middle East, Asia Pacific, and Latin America. For some areas with tight infrastructure funds and huge demand, Hong Kong provides a practical and feasible way to accelerate the implementation of important transportation projects. Chen Maobo also shared Hong Kong's experience in promoting smart and green transportation. He cited the northern metropolitan area of Hong Kong as an example, which is planned as an important center for innovation and technology, with an expected population of 2.5 million and over 650000 jobs, and will drive connectivity and economic growth through projects such as highways.
