Recently, the National Key Laboratory of Processor Chips of the Institute of Computing Technology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, in conjunction with the Software Research Institute, launched the world's first fully automated software and hardware design system for processor chips based on artificial intelligence technology - "enlightenment". This system can achieve full process automation design from chip hardware to basic software, reaching the level of manual design by human experts in multiple key indicators, marking a solid step forward for China in the field of artificial intelligence automatic chip design. Relevant teams of the Chinese Academy of Sciences have developed the "enlightenment" system relying on advanced AI technologies such as the big model, which can automatically design the CPU and automatically configure the corresponding operating system, translation program, high-performance operator library and other basic software for the chip. This research is expected to change the design paradigm of processor chip software and hardware, reduce manual participation in the chip design process, improve design efficiency, and achieve rapid customized design for specific application scenarios, flexibly meeting the increasingly diverse needs of chip design.
