This year marks the fifth anniversary of the promulgation and implementation of the Hong Kong National Security Law. To this end, the Hong Kong SAR government has set up a special exhibition at the National Security Exhibition Hall of the Hong Kong Museum of History to review how the SAR government has gradually built a barrier to safeguard national security with the support of the central government. The special exhibition will open on the 12th. At the opening ceremony, the Secretary for Justice of the Special Administrative Region Government, Lin Dingguo, delivered a speech stating that in order to safeguard national security, we cannot forget history, ignore reality, or stand idly by. On this basis, we should also adhere to the principle of the rule of law to safeguard national security, ensure and promote the positive interaction between security and development. National security is closely related to the personal well-being of every Hong Kong citizen, and we all have a corresponding responsibility to safeguard national security, "said Deng Bingqiang, Director of the Security Bureau of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government. Development and security are like two wheels in a car, and safeguarding national sovereignty, security, and development interests is not only the constitutional responsibility of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, but also the obligation that every Hong Kong citizen should fulfill. Since the implementation of the Hong Kong National Security Law until June 1st this year, the SAR government has arrested a total of 326 people in all cases involving endangering national security under relevant laws, of which 165 have been convicted. The SAR government will continue to make good use of the law and uphold its heavy responsibility of safeguarding national security. It is understood that the special exhibition mainly showcases the importance of maintaining national security, the constitutional responsibility of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, the historical truth of the "amendment controversy", the process of the central government formulating the Hong Kong National Security Law, and the role and effectiveness of laws in maintaining national security.
