The opening ceremony of the 2025 China Kenya Cultural and Tourism Season and the 40th anniversary special performance of China Kenya Acrobatics Exchange were held on the evening of the 6th in Nairobi, the capital of Kenya. Artists from both countries performed together on stage, and the theater, which can accommodate 400 people, was packed. Hannah Cheputumo, the Minister of Gender Equality, Culture, Arts and Heritage of Kenya, stated in her opening speech that Kenya and China trust each other and have established a brotherly friendship. Cultural and tourism cooperation will deepen mutual understanding and help develop bilateral relations. She wishes the cultural and tourism season activities a successful event. Chinese Ambassador to Kenya Guo Haiyan said that in 2024, the number of Chinese tourists to Kenya will exceed 90000, a year-on-year increase of 47.4%, reaching a historic high. This is the first time that China and Kenya have jointly organized a cultural and tourism season, which will effectively promote cultural and tourism cooperation between the two countries, enhance mutual understanding and friendly feelings between the two peoples, and inject momentum into building a China Kenya community with a shared future in the new era. At the opening ceremony, traditional Chinese opera and traditional Kenyan dance amazed the audience, and the wonderful performances of erhu, pipa, and Kenyan acrobats drew applause and cheers from the live audience. It is understood that this China Kenya cultural and tourism season will continue until the end of 2025. Both sides will hold a series of activities, including live broadcasts of animal migrations, friendly sports games, Chinese cuisine Africa competition, anime and film exhibitions, and China Television Festival.
