The reporter learned from Tsinghua University that the university has decided to expand its undergraduate enrollment scale in an orderly and moderate manner. By 2025, it plans to increase the enrollment quota by about 150 undergraduate students. It is reported that the newly established college will enroll new undergraduate students in the school. The expansion of undergraduate enrollment and the establishment of new colleges are important measures among them. It is reported that the newly established undergraduate general education college will gather the advantageous disciplinary resources of Tsinghua University, highlight the driving role of artificial intelligence technology in education, teaching, and scientific research innovation, and focus on exploring the paradigm of artificial intelligence empowering education and teaching based on the cross integration of artificial intelligence and multiple disciplines, in order to cultivate compound talents with profound artificial intelligence literacy, mastery of artificial intelligence technology, and outstanding innovation ability. Tsinghua University will simultaneously make efforts and provide guarantees in optimizing the talent training system, building the teaching staff, and allocating teaching resources. The person in charge of the Academic Affairs Office of Tsinghua University introduced that the school has achieved phased results in the cultivation of artificial intelligence talents and the empowerment of artificial intelligence education. The first batch of 117 pilot courses and 147 teaching classes have carried out AI enabled teaching practices, developing various functional scenarios such as intelligent teaching assistants, lesson preparation assistance, and intelligent grading. At the same time, AI learning assistants are equipped for students and continuously upgraded to create personalized learning environments for students.
