The Forum on Artificial Intelligence Security, Trustworthiness, and Responsibility was held on the 27th at the Hong Kong Cyberport. The attendees jointly discussed the risks and challenges faced by artificial intelligence in the development and application process, and shared their experiences on how to strike a balance between innovation and security governance. Sun Dong, Secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, delivered a speech at the forum, stating that as the digital technology center of Hong Kong, Cyberport established the Artificial Intelligence Supercomputing Center last year to provide computing power support for local artificial intelligence research and development. On the 26th, the Financial Secretary of the Special Administrative Region Government, Paul Chan, announced the 2025/26 fiscal year budget, reserving HKD 1 billion to establish the Hong Kong Artificial Intelligence Research and Development Institute, dedicated to promoting the development and industry application of artificial intelligence in Hong Kong, and promoting cross sector cooperation. Chen Qingquan, an academician of the CAE Member, said that AI, as a revolutionary force, is reshaping all walks of life from science and technology, medical care, education to finance, and also redefining the boundaries of human capabilities. While striving to unleash the full productivity of artificial intelligence, we must also ensure its safety, reliability, and accountability. Therefore, we should accelerate the development of digital technology standards and the implementation of evaluation and certification systems, promote cutting-edge research, and facilitate international cooperation. During the forum, experts and scholars in the field of artificial intelligence, as well as professionals from Hong Kong's public administration, finance, healthcare, and other industries, shared their insights and experiences on multiple topics such as "cross industry AI transformation" and "balancing AI innovation applications and risks".
