On February 17th local time, Wang Yi, member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and Minister of Foreign Affairs, held talks with Irish Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Harris in Dublin. Wang Yi said that China and Ireland jointly celebrated the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations last year. Premier Li Qiang's successful visit to Ireland injects new impetus into the China Ireland mutually beneficial strategic partnership. China Ireland cooperation in various fields has achieved remarkable results, demonstrating enormous potential and vast space. We are willing to implement the consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries with Ireland, and become partners of mutual trust, respect, and achievement. Wang Yi stated that this year marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Europe. Both sides should cherish and summarize the successful experience of the development of China EU relations over the past half century, adhere to the partnership positioning, properly handle differences, and work together to promote the sustained and healthy development of China EU relations. In the face of increasing uncertainty and instability in the international situation, China advocates for the construction of an equal and orderly multipolar world, which embodies the greatest common denominator of the international community. China and Europe are important forces in a multipolar world. China is willing to work with all parties, including Europe, to jointly uphold the authority of the United Nations, abide by the basic norms of international relations, resist unilateralism, and oppose a return to the "law of the jungle". Harris stated that in the past few decades, the relationship between Ireland and China has made significant progress, with practical cooperation achieving positive results, bilateral economic and trade volume increasing significantly, and active exchanges in various fields such as education and humanities. Ireland values its relationship with China, adheres to the One China policy, and is committed to strengthening a positive and constructive partnership with China. Ireland appreciates China's visa free policy towards Ireland and supports the opening of more direct flights between the two sides to further facilitate personnel exchanges. Ireland adheres to multilateralism and free trade, does not support decoupling, and supports strengthening cooperation between China and Europe to jointly address global challenges. Both sides discussed the issue of the Ukrainian crisis. Harris presented his views on rebuilding peace in Europe. Wang Yi stated that China supports all efforts dedicated to peace, supports the exploration of a fair, lasting, binding, and mutually acceptable peace plan, and supports Europe in playing its due role in the peace process, especially in building a new European security pattern. Both sides also exchanged views on easing tensions in Gaza and promoting a return to the "two-state solution". (New Society)
