The reporter learned from the National Health Commission that the General Office of the National Health Commission recently issued the "Guidelines for Nutritional Feeding Evaluation Services for Infants and Young Children (Trial)", providing a basis for scientific feeding and evaluation. Infant and toddler feeding mainly includes breastfeeding, complementary foods, reasonable diet, and dietary behavior cultivation from birth to 3 years old. The guidelines specify that nutritional feeding assessments for infants and young children are provided by township health centers, community health service centers, or county-level maternal and child health institutions. A total of 9 nutritional feeding assessments are conducted for infants and young children at 1, 3, 6, 8, 12, 18, 24, 30, and 36 months of age. The service content includes health education, feeding behavior evaluation, nutritional status evaluation, and counseling guidance. For infants aged 0 to 6 months, the guidelines emphasize promoting core knowledge and skills of breastfeeding to caregivers, advocating for exclusive breastfeeding without adding water or other foods; For infants and young children aged 6 to 24 months, the guidelines require emphasis on guiding caregivers to master scientific methods of adding complementary foods, ensuring that the frequency and types of complementary foods are qualified, and striving to reduce iron deficiency anemia in infants and young children; For children aged 2 to 3, the guidelines emphasize the importance of a reasonable diet and the cultivation of dietary behaviors, such as choosing fresh and nutritious ingredients, reducing salt and sugar intake, avoiding watching electronic devices such as TV, computers, and mobile phones during meals, and controlling meal times within 30 minutes each time. It is understood that after the evaluation of feeding behavior and nutritional status is completed, child health personnel should combine the results of infant and toddler health examinations, feeding behavior evaluations, and nutritional status evaluations to provide targeted counseling, guidance, and intervention to caregivers with feeding behavior problems and infants and toddlers with nutritional problems in a timely manner. For infants and young children with nutritional disorders, if necessary, they should be referred to county-level maternal and child health care institutions or other professional medical institutions. In addition, the guidelines focus on the theme of infant and toddler nutrition feeding, forming the "Evaluation Form for Nutritional Feeding of Infants and Toddlers Under 3 Years Old", which facilitates children's health personnel to regularly and quantitatively inquire about and record the feeding situation of caregivers at various key months, the nutritional status of infants and toddlers at various key months, evaluate the feeding behavior of caregivers, timely discover existing feeding problems, and provide targeted counseling and guidance based on the growth and development of infants and toddlers.
