Statistics show that according to pre estimated figures, the local gross domestic product in the fourth quarter of 2024 will increase by 2.4% year-on-year in real terms, with a growth rate of 1.9% in the third quarter. The local gross domestic product, which is seasonally adjusted and compared to consecutive quarters, increased by 0.8% in real terms in the fourth quarter of 2024 compared to the third quarter. A spokesperson for the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government stated that the annual growth pace of the Hong Kong economy will accelerate in the fourth quarter of 2024. The overall export of goods has resumed growth under the improvement of external demand. The increasing number of visitors to Hong Kong and the improvement of other cross-border economic activities have driven the continued increase in service output. As the overall economy continues to expand, overall investment spending further increases. However, due to changes in citizens' consumption patterns, private consumption expenditure has slightly decreased. Looking ahead, the spokesperson believes that although the uncertainty of the external environment has increased, the Hong Kong economy is expected to further grow in 2025. The implementation of proactive policies by the government to boost the mainland economy will help enhance market confidence and benefit various economic sectors in Hong Kong.
