In order to further optimize the settlement policy of medical insurance funds and continuously improve the efficiency of medical insurance fund settlement, the National Medical Insurance Administration recently issued a notice on promoting the reform of instant settlement of basic medical insurance funds. According to the settlement deadline proposed in the notice, the period from the deadline for application by designated medical institutions to the disbursement of medical insurance funds in the future will not exceed 20 working days, which is 10 working days shorter than before. The notice also clarifies that we will adhere to the combination of fund prepayment and instant settlement, which not only increases the total cash flow of medical institutions through fund prepayment, but also accelerates the cash flow of medical institutions through instant settlement. The notice specifies that by 2025, about 80% of the overall planning areas in China will basically achieve real-time settlement between the basic medical insurance fund and designated medical institutions; By 2026, all coordinated regions across the country will achieve instant settlement between the basic medical insurance fund and designated medical institutions. The relevant person in charge of the National Medical Insurance Administration stated that the implementation of instant settlement reform will continuously inject working capital into the operation of designated medical institutions, alleviate the pressure of advance payment funds, and further empower the high-quality development of the medical and health industry and the pharmaceutical industry.
