Recently, the 7th Xiamen Ocean Environment Open Science Conference with the theme of "Technological Change Promotes Sustainable Development of the Ocean" was held in Xiamen, Fujian. The conference was co sponsored by the State Key Laboratory of Offshore Marine Environmental Sciences of Xiamen University and the Department of Earth Sciences of the National Natural Science Foundation of China. The conference attracted over 1700 experts, scholars, and student representatives from 36 countries and regions including the United States, the United Kingdom, France, and South Africa. It featured 75 discussion topics and side events, sharing cutting-edge research results on global and regional marine environments, showcasing cutting-edge research and innovative solutions to ocean issues. The conference also features regional cooperation seminars led by the United Nations' Decade of the Ocean Science Program, a salon for female scientists, and journal editor sharing sessions to promote exchanges and cooperation among global oceanographers. The conference has arranged 58 themed sub sessions and seminars, 7 keynote speeches, 786 oral presentations, and 761 wall posters, covering six major fields: physical ocean, chemical ocean, biological ocean, policy governance, geological technology, and interdisciplinary and pollution control. It aims to address issues such as climate change, ocean acidification, and declining oxygen content, and combines cutting-edge technologies such as artificial intelligence and digital twins to provide new ideas and methods for solving global marine environmental problems through open communication and ideological collision.
