At present, the effective number of invention patents in China has reached 4.756 million, becoming the world's first country to break through 4 million. The effective number of invention patents in strategic emerging industries reached 1.349 million, a year-on-year increase of 15.7%. PCT international patents, Madrid international trademarks, and Hague system design applications all rank among the top in the world.
It is reported that in 2024, the China National Intellectual Property Administration, together with seven departments including the Ministry of Education, will guide the completion of inventory and value analysis of 1.349 million patents in stock in more than 2700 universities and scientific research institutions across the country, form a convertible patent resource pool, organize precise docking with 450000 enterprises, and do a good job in matching and pushing. Jointly with the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and other departments, we will implement a plan to promote the growth of small and medium-sized enterprises through patent industrialization, and introduce a series of measures to strengthen the intellectual property chain and increase efficiency in key industries. The number of patent transfer license registrations for the whole year reached 613000, a year-on-year increase of 29.9%. Among them, the number of patent transfer license registrations for universities and research institutions reached 76000, a year-on-year increase of 39.1%.
China's ranking in the latest "2024 Global Innovation Index Report" released by the World Intellectual Property Organization has risen to 11th place, with a cumulative increase of 24 places since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, making it one of the fastest progressing countries in the world. The number of global top 100 technology clusters has reached 26, ranking first among countries for two consecutive years.
