Dunhuang, Gansu: Busy Planting Trees in the Gobi Desert

2026-04-03

As the core area of the "Three North" project, Dunhuang in Gansu Province adheres to the strategy of "protecting water sources in the south and resisting sandstorms in the west", and regards afforestation as a key measure to build a strong ecological security barrier. Since 2026, Dunhuang has coordinated engineering and biological sand control, synchronously promoting the laying of grass grids, the installation of sand blocking nets, and the planting of sand growing seedlings in 14 key wind and sand prone areas, forming a hierarchical protection system of "front sand blocking middle sand fixation rear stability".
