The 2024 Macau Science and Technology Awards Ceremony was held on the 28th at the China Portuguese Speaking Countries Business Cooperation Service Platform Complex. 22 projects won the Science and Technology Awards, and 30 graduate students won the Graduate Science and Technology Research and Development Award. The Chief Executive of the Macao Special Administrative Region, Cen Haohui, the Director of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in Macao, Zheng Xincong, and the Commissioner of the Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Macao, Liu Xianfa, attended the ceremony and presented awards to the winners of the Science and Technology Awards. The selection of the 2024 Science and Technology Awards was completed at the end of last year. After strict review, 22 projects won the Science and Technology Award, among which the team represented by Vice President Jiang Zhihong of the University of Macau and the team represented by Associate Professor Sun Guoxing of the University of Macau won the first prize. Dai Jianye, Secretary for Economy and Finance of the Macao SAR Government, stated in his speech that Macao has achieved fruitful scientific and technological achievements in recent years. The SAR government will continue to increase investment in scientific research, explore international scientific and technological cooperation, deepen the "Macao R&D+Hengqin Transformation" model, continuously optimize the environment for scientific and technological innovation, and work with all sectors to promote Macao's scientific and technological innovation to new heights. Jiang Zhihong, on behalf of all the award winners, stated that the award is not only a recognition of past achievements, but also embodies the mission of promoting technological innovation. He called on Macau's technology workers to work together and contribute more to the development of Macau's technology industry and the country's technological strength. The Macao SAR government established a science and technology award system in 2011, optimized the relevant system in 2024, and expanded the award scope to Macao graduate students studying science and technology overseas, strengthening support for young scientific and technological talents.
