Respecting artistic works is a prerequisite for aesthetic education

Recently, the graduation exhibition of undergraduate students at the Central Academy of Fine Arts (hereinafter referred to as the "Central Academy of Fine Arts Graduation Exhibition") was held. However, many Central Academy of Fine Arts students posted on social media that their exhibited works were damaged by children visiting the exhibition. Some students questioned whether the graduation exhibition sold tickets to the public without fulfilling their regulatory obligations, and called on parents to take good care of their children. On May 26th, the Art Museum of the Central Academy of Fine Arts stated that the children watching are too overwhelmed and mainly depend on their personal attitudes and how their parents manage them. Nowadays, many parents attach great importance to aesthetic education. Narrowly defined, aesthetic education is art education; Broadly speaking, aesthetic education serves the construction of socialist spiritual civilization and the cultivation of students' spiritual and behavioral beauty. Whether it is narrow or broad aesthetic education, it cannot be separated from the education of artistic knowledge and the influence of artistic atmosphere, which is the foundation of aesthetic education. Therefore, in recent years, more and more parents have taken their children to art museums, galleries, and museums. During this process, it is not uncommon for some children to exhibit uncivilized behavior. Public art exhibitions should not reject young people, as children themselves are the main target of aesthetic education. How to view some children's unconscious uncivilized exhibition behavior? Here, let's first discuss what kind of aesthetic education is necessary in the eyes of adults such as parents or teachers to have an educational effect. Can taking children for a walk around art venues allow them to receive artistic education? From many results, the answer is not necessarily. Children often exhibit inappropriate behavior due to their age and psychological factors. Therefore, it is crucial for the teachers or parents responsible for leading the tour to truly understand the essence of aesthetic education. If sufficient pre knowledge dissemination and venue behavior norms reminders are not given to children, it is difficult to plant the seeds of art in their hearts by taking them around art venues or sitting for an afternoon. The act of adults allowing children to view exhibitions without civility is actually a lack of respect for art. This kind of disrespect makes it difficult for aesthetic education to have an effect on children. Adults may not understand the artistic connotations expressed in some works, but as individuals in society, it is a social consensus to hold basic respect for any work. In reality, many adults themselves cannot maintain spontaneous respect for exhibits in art venues, such as not using flashlights for photography, not making loud noises for discussions... When adults cannot maintain basic etiquette norms in art venues, it is easy for them to neglect educating children and engage in the above-mentioned destructive behaviors. The destruction of artworks that have been invested with great effort is indeed infuriating. Similar situations have occurred in many art galleries. During the exhibition at the Central Academy of Fine Arts, many students posted feedback that "they kept throwing ice cubes around in their artwork installations, and their teachers not only did not stop them, but also indirectly encouraged children to play on my works. Some classmates helped me maintain order, but some parents believed that it prevented children from experiencing the atmosphere of the art museum, and even said it was their nature." Nowadays, art and cultural relics do have to be viewed through fences or glass, making it difficult for viewers to truly appreciate the beauty of art details. This is actually a derivative of the above-mentioned problem. We should learn how to respect artworks in order to have closer contact with them in relevant places. Only when visitors voluntarily follow the regulations in the relevant places can exhibit management dare to remove the physical barriers between exhibits and viewers, without worrying about damage to the exhibits. This once again indicates that the lack of basic respect for artistic works is the reason for the occurrence of uncivilized exhibition behavior. (New Society)
