The 5th Asia Healthcare Summit Forum, planned by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, opened in Hong Kong on the 26th. Over 2800 experts and industry professionals from about 40 countries and regions jointly explored new opportunities in the field of medical technology both online and offline. Hong Kong Chief Executive Carrie Lam stated that efforts will be made to promote Hong Kong's development into an international hub for medical innovation. The theme of this forum is "Global Collaboration for a Shared Future", jointly exploring solutions to issues such as chronic diseases and population aging challenges. During his speech at the venue, Li Jiachao said that under the "One Country, Two Systems" policy, Hong Kong enjoys strong support from the government, and the SAR government will invest a large amount of resources to support Hong Kong's scientific research and development of health technology. The Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area International Clinical Trial Institute has officially started operations in the Hong Kong campus, collaborating with two medical schools in Hong Kong for clinical trials. In addition, Hong Kong is committed to establishing internationally recognized drug and medical device registration institutions, including the "1+" new drug approval mechanism. Cao Xuetao, Deputy Director of the National Health Commission, stated in his speech that Hong Kong plays an important role in the field of healthcare due to its unique geographical advantages, well-developed infrastructure, advanced scientific research capabilities, and international business environment. The deepening of the construction of the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area injects strong impetus into the development of the healthcare industry in Hong Kong and even Asia, creating vast space. During a video speech, World Health Organization Director General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said that the world's problems are complex and multifaceted, and the way to solve them is to uphold and practice multilateralism. We look forward to countries and regions working together to build a community with a shared future for human health, and to build a healthier, safer, and more equitable world. This forum will last for two days and is one of the key events of the fourth International Healthcare Week. Another key event held at the same time is the three-day 16th Hong Kong International Healthcare Exhibition, which attracted about 300 exhibitors from 13 countries and regions. Seven local universities in Hong Kong and over 50 Hong Kong innovation and healthcare companies participated in the exhibition, showcasing the local innovation strength. (New Society)
