On May 24, 2025, the Beijing Science and Technology Week and the "Light of Automation" Public Science Day of the Institute of Automation of the Chinese Academy of Sciences opened. The event presented more than ten scientific research achievements in the fields of smart healthcare, bionic robots, and brain computer interfaces to the public through four major sections: scientific exhibitions, interactive performances, scientific experiences, and popular science lectures. The audience sits down next to the robot, applies ultrasound coupling agent to their neck, and volunteers use handheld ultrasound equipment to scan their neck for about 2 minutes, completing early screening for cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases such as stroke. This is a scene witnessed by reporters at the "Light of Automation" Public Science Day, where a carotid artery ultrasound scanning robot completes the screening task. The carotid artery is like a "highway" that supplies blood to the brain. If these "highways" are blocked, such as the growth of plaques or narrowing, it may lead to diseases such as cerebral infarction and stroke. Carotid ultrasound examination is an important means of screening for cerebrovascular diseases. This robot consists of three parts: 'robot+artificial intelligence+handheld ultrasound'. The robot is equivalent to an 'intelligent navigator', and even beginners can complete high-quality carotid artery scans by following its prompts; Artificial intelligence is like a 'film reading expert', capable of accurately analyzing ultrasound images like a doctor and automatically generating diagnostic reports; The handheld ultrasound device is only the size of a mobile phone, and the entire device is lightweight and portable. It can be packed into a first aid kit for home inspection. ”Chen Chen, an associate researcher of the Institute of Automation of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, told reporters that this robot is particularly suitable for use in grass-roots hospitals and community clinics. Wearing data collection gloves, you can remotely command the agile operation of the robot, and the robot will follow the movements of your hands. At the exhibition area for dexterous hands and general-purpose dexterous operating robots, primary and secondary school students lined up to experience the scene. This device can be worn on a person to collect real-time fine movements of the human hand, and then map the collected data to a simulation environment. We can see that the simulated hand on the screen can reproduce the corresponding movements of the human hand, and the robot can also make corresponding movements. ”Sun Jia, associate researcher of the Institute of Automation of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, pointed to the multi joint human hand data collection gloves and introduced to the reporter that this set of equipment can help and replace human beings to complete many operational tasks, and can be applied to scientific research, service, special, industrial and other fields. At the scene, the digital character "Xiaochu" created by "Zidong Taichu" attracted many viewers to stop and watch. Xiaochu not only understands images, videos, and sounds, but also performs Chinese continuation writing, bilingual translation, and recites poetry and prose.
