Hong Kong Customs completes pilot program for Asia Pacific Customs Electronic Verification Platform
2025-05-23
The 26th World Customs Organization Asia Pacific Summit concluded in Hong Kong on the 22nd. Hong Kong Customs Commissioner Chen Zida stated that the pilot program for the Asia Pacific Customs Electronic Verification Platform, led by Hong Kong Customs, has been completed. Chen Zida stated that a batch of goods shipped from Shenzhen to Thailand via Hong Kong successfully completed remote authentication through the electronic platform last week and obtained tariff preferences related to the China ASEAN Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Framework Agreement, reducing Thailand's import tax rate from 10% to 0. He pointed out that the electronic verification platform for customs in the Asia Pacific region is planned and promoted by Hong Kong Customs, utilizing blockchain technology. Customs in various regions can verify electronic documents such as certificates of origin and import/export licenses of products without directly exchanging sensitive information. In the future, Hong Kong Customs will further develop this innovative solution, strengthen internal and external communication, and consolidate and enhance Hong Kong's position as an international financial, shipping, and trade center. Chen Zida stated that since Hong Kong Customs became the Vice Chairman of the World Customs Organization for the Asia Pacific region in July last year, it has organized over 10 regional activities to promote knowledge sharing and cooperation, and enhance cohesion among members in the Asia Pacific region.
