2025-05-23

The reporter learned from the China Manned Space Engineering Office that the crew of Shenzhou 20 successfully completed their first extravehicular activity on the 22nd. Astronauts Chen Dong, Chen Zhongrui, and Wang Jie from the Shenzhou 20 crew worked closely together, with the support of ground researchers, to exit the core module node module and install the space debris protection device that had previously passed through the cargo airlock module and was transferred to the transit position using a robotic arm. They also carried out tasks such as inspecting and disposing of equipment and facilities outside the module. At 16:49 on the same day, after about 8 hours of extravehicular activity, astronauts Chen Dong and Chen Zhongrui safely returned to the Tianhe core module, and the extravehicular activity was a complete success. It is reported that this is the first time since entering the application and development stage of the space station that astronauts have exited through the Tianhe core module node module. The astronaut's exit and cargo exit tasks have been coupled and implemented for the first time. Astronaut Chen Dong has walked in space again after two years, and astronaut Chen Zhongrui has performed his first exit mission. (New Society)
