Review of the First Joint Air Force Training between China and Egypt - Blue Sky Sharpens Sword for Peace

During this joint training, our J-10C fighter jet taxied behind the Y-20 and KJ-500 aircraft. During this joint training, I conducted aerial refueling training with my Y-20 aircraft and the Egyptian Air Force MiG-29 fighter jet. Photo by Yu Hongchun: "As I flew my fighter jet over the pyramids, I was deeply impressed by this ancient Egyptian civilization wonder, and also proud of the Chinese Air Force fighter jet flying to Egypt again. ”In early summer, near the runway of a military airport, pilot Li Bokuan told reporters like this. On this year's International Labor Day, just like his comrades who participated in the Egypt Air Show last year, he flew a fighter jet and "framed" the pyramid. From April 17th to May 4th, in order to enhance the friendship and mutual trust between the Chinese and Egyptian armies, and promote practical cooperation and exchanges between the two sides, the Chinese Air Force was invited to participate in the joint training of the Chinese and Egyptian "Civilization Eagle-2025" Air Force in Egypt. This is the first time that the Chinese Air Force has deployed its system forces to Africa for joint training, and also the first time that the air forces of China and Egypt have conducted joint training. After returning to China, Chinese mission officers and soldiers told reporters about their unforgettable experiences and feelings. Our preparation work this time was very solid, and we completed equipment deployment, theoretical teaching, task planning, and command and control coordination within a short period of time after entering, successfully achieving the first flight. ”The task officer said. During the 18 day joint training, participants from both China and Egypt had in-depth exchanges and successfully completed courses such as air superiority operations, suppression air defense, and mixed formation training, demonstrating superb technical and tactical skills and good military literacy. According to the joint training plan, on April 20th, the Chinese Y-20 attempted to refuel Egyptian fighter jets in the air for the first time. After receiving the task, the pilots of both sides had in-depth and detailed exchanges of aerial refueling experience, and formulated specific implementation plans. Chinese pilot Zhao Tengfei and Egyptian pilot boarded the Egyptian fighter jet and coordinated the refueling of the Y-20. When approaching the tanker, I reminded the Egyptian pilot in the front cabin in real time to control the speed difference, maintain a good relationship position, and control the correction amount. ”Zhao Tengfei introduced that if there is a large speed difference between the fighter jet and the tanker when they approach, especially if the correction amount is large and the speed difference is uneven within 1 meter, it may cause the probe to break or the tanker cone sleeve to be damaged. Therefore, flight control must be fine and precise. After the training officially began, Y-20 and Egyptian fighter jets took off one after another and entered the designated area for assembly. Under the timely guidance of Zhao Tengfei, the Egyptian pilot successfully completed the simulated docking with instructions such as "visual inspection, request to join the team", "request to occupy the left position", and "simulate docking on the left side". Left side 5 meters, 4 meters, 3 meters... Left side docking successful. ”When the voice of Long Yifei, the pilot of Yunyou-20, came through the radio, the Egyptian pilot breathed a sigh of relief. In this joint training program, the coordinated combat exercise between Chinese and Egyptian fighter jets has attracted much attention. For this, the Chinese flight crew has made careful preparations. However, the unfamiliar flying environment and various unexpected situations still constantly test the coordination and cooperation of pilots. At 8:00 pm on April 27th, an aerial confrontation training began. Two fighter jets piloted by two Chinese pilots, along with two Egyptian fighter jets as attackers, cooperated to strike ground targets covered by "enemy" fighter jets. The training area is located in the heart of the desert, with almost no human habitation within a hundred miles and a lack of ground reference points. At that time, it was also dark night... "One of our participating pilots explained that although they had some psychological preparation before flying, they remained highly focused in an environment with almost no light source at all. The two pilots quickly adjusted their state and, while reducing outward observation and focusing on instrument flight, conducted a search using onboard radar to quickly determine the distribution of "enemy" fighter jets. Target locked, ready to launch! ”According to the predetermined tactics, our other participating pilot operated the fighter jet and carried out simulated attacks on the target. Suddenly, an 'enemy plane' approached quickly. Considering the complexity of the night situation and to avoid accidents, the two made decisive adjustments... After a fierce air battle, they immediately coordinated with Egyptian fighter jets to advance and attack the "enemy" ground targets. Hit the target! ”This collaborative training ended successfully in a flexible and adaptable manner. Although it was our first confrontation, we cooperated very well! "After the training, the pilots from both sides expressed their admiration for each other. For the first time, Yunyou-20 successfully refueled Egyptian fighter jets in the air, and for the first time, Chinese and Egyptian fighter jets conducted joint training on the same platform... These "firsts" were not only due to the pilots' excellent technical and tactical skills, but also to the hard work of the maintenance workers. During this joint training, as soon as the Chinese fighter jet landed in Egypt, the oil analysis team discovered a problem - when testing the lubricating oil of a certain component, they found that the value of an element exceeded the standard. If not resolved in a timely manner, subsequent flights will be affected. For this reason, the maintenance manager immediately organized personnel to study and analyze, and arranged for further testing of other aircraft. After data analysis and comparison, the maintenance team determined that the sample contamination may be caused by the coating of the sampling tube. After replacing the sampling tube and retesting, the values showed normal, which relieved everyone's worries. The same blue sky, a shared world. As an important window for observing the Chinese military, my overseas mission troops undertake the mission of showcasing the image of a great power's military. We came for peace and friendship. In the future, the Chinese Air Force will fly to the world stage with a more confident and open attitude, "said pilot Li Bokuan. (New Society)
