Strong Military Forum | Small details are a mirror

During the Tang Dynasty, the famous minister Lu Zhi was upright, honest, and upright. Emperor Dezong once said that he was "too cautious and cautious", but he replied, "Once the bribery road is opened, it will spread rapidly. If there are no whips or boots, it will reach clothing; if there are no clothing, it will reach coins and silk; if there are no coins and silk, it will reach carts and carts; if there are no carts and carts, it will reach gold and jade. When we see what we want, how can we restrain ourselves?" This enlightens us that if the "trickle of water" continues to develop, it will inevitably lead to "disasters in the streams and valleys", and if we cannot pass the small details, it will be difficult to hold the bottom line on major occasions. Numerous facts have proven that indulgence in small matters and details can gradually and covertly affect a person's character and style, and can also be fatal. For communists and revolutionary soldiers, small details are a mirror and a ruler, which can reflect the height of the border and measure the quality of their personality. The relationship between small details is important, and small things should not be underestimated. Only by focusing on small things can we achieve great things, and small mistakes will eventually lead to big setbacks. Many officials who have been arrested due to violations of discipline and law initially hold a lucky mentality, thinking that accepting some small favors is okay and not a big deal, and that it is enough to control them when the "critical moment" comes. Little do they know, party members and cadres lose a bit of prestige if they make a special move, leave a stain if they break a rule, and lose the hearts of the people if they seek personal gain. It is during small things like a meal or a bottle of wine that some people gradually relax their vigilance, lose their principles, lose their morals, and numb their will, ultimately leading them onto the path of illegal activities. Famous military writer Wei Wei once wrote an inscription for a village party branch secretary named Zhang Zhenshan in a rural area of Hebei Province, highly praising this village branch secretary's qualities of political integrity and clean hands. He used several "ones" in succession: "For decades, he has never drunk a cup of wine from the government, never used a collective firewood, and never spent a penny from the government..." On the surface, there were no earth shattering events behind these "ones", but it is precisely by strengthening constraints and preventing small things from happening that he can truly be honest and clean in serving the public. President Xi emphasized that the key to strengthening self-discipline is whether one can be cautious and meticulous in private, when there is no one around, and in small details. For Communist Party members and revolutionary soldiers, they should start from small details, set up their own "high-voltage lines", set up their own "firewalls", and recite their own "tight mantras" in their hearts. They should not violate rules and regulations due to "small corruption", tolerate and accommodate "small problems", or readily accept "small ideas". They should be like everyone before and after, with or without supervision, and like everyone inside and outside the "eight hour" period, firmly guarding the bottom line of being a person, handling affairs, exercising power, and making friends.
