2025-05-21

On May 20th, the "Poetry and Etiquette Transmission - Confucian Family Life Theme Exhibition" jointly planned by the Gongwang Palace Museum of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the Confucius Museum was exhibited in the Gongbo Le Dao Hall exhibition hall. The exhibition will continue until August 10th. Kong Mansion, also known as Yan Sheng Gong Mansion, is located in Qufu, Shandong Province. It is the residence of the descendants of Confucius who inherited the Yan Sheng Kung Sect. The exhibition selects 99 pieces/sets of daily utensils from the Ming and Qing dynasties collected in the Confucius Museum from the perspective of the Confucian Mansion as the living space of the Yansheng Church throughout history. It is divided into four units: "There are sacrifices at different times, and there is a balance between advance and retreat", "Rites follow the universe, and music harmonizes with heaven and earth", "Poetry and books continue the world, and stone and stone are eternal longevity", and "Ding Nai Harmony, Li Chun Yao Fu". From the perspective of the main life contents of the Yansheng Palace, such as sacrifice, daily life, reading, and banquet, it presents the unique living style of the Kong family in this mansion, with "poetry and ritual passing down the family" as the core. Nearly 20 cultural relics are on display for the first time in the exhibition. Among them, a bamboo root carving of a group of immortals wishing a happy birthday is carved using various techniques. The mountain rocks are towering and steep, and the trees are lush and vigorous. The group of immortals wishing a happy birthday climb up the stairs with different expressions and exquisite craftsmanship, making it extremely precious; There is also a Qing Dynasty carved incense lid box, the body of which is pressed with fragrant powder and exquisitely carved, which is very rare; In the banquet section of the fourth unit, there are authentic archival materials that record the daily life of the Kong family, such as draft plays, copied plays, financial books of the Kong family's office, and accounts of the Kong family's happy birthday. These materials have never been exhibited before. In addition, at the Jiale Hall of the Prince Gong's Mansion, the exhibition "Carrying the Way with Instruments - Ming and Qing Furniture and Modern Ceramics from the Collection of the Prince Gong's Mansion Museum" was also held simultaneously, showcasing a total of 29 pieces of Ming and Qing furniture and 28 ceramic works created by 18 contemporary artists. The exhibition invites Professor Bai Ming from the School of Fine Arts at Tsinghua University and Director of the Ceramic Art Committee of the China Artists Association to jointly plan with the Prince Gong's Mansion Museum. With the main idea of "site memory", the exhibition is divided into three theme units based on the layout of the main hall and east and west side halls of the Prince Gong's Mansion Jiale Hall courtyard. The exhibition will continue until July 6th. (New Society)
