In order to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression, the monument to the former site of the traffic terminal of the Hong Kong Kowloon Independent Brigade of the Dongjiang Column was unveiled in Wanchai Village, Shenchung, New Territories, Hong Kong on the 19th. About 200 representatives from Hong Kong and the mainland attended the opening ceremony. The Hong Kong Kowloon Independence Brigade of the Dongjiang Column is the only anti Japanese armed force in Hong Kong under the leadership of the CPC, mainly composed of Hong Kong citizens. From 1942 to 1944, the Li Family Mansion in Shenzhen, Hong Kong was the intelligence and transportation hub of the Hong Kong Kowloon Independent Brigade of the Dongjiang Column. Hong Kong history expert Liu Shuyong introduced that the Dongjiang Column's Hong Kong and Kowloon Independent Brigade has a total of six transportation lines at its terminal, which have played an important role in transmitting intelligence and transporting materials. The Li family of Shenyong also made significant contributions in protecting guerrilla fighters and raising military supplies. Therefore, this building has important historical value and cultural relic value, which is the historical witness of the CPC leading the Hong Kong people to fight against Japanese aggression. Li Huiqiong, head of the Hong Kong Patriotic Education Working Group and member of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, said that erecting a monument to the former site of the traffic terminal of the Hong Kong Kowloon Independent Brigade of the Dongjiang Column is not only a respect for history, but also a heritage of spirit. I hope that all sectors of society will continue to care for and support the research and promotion of the history of the Anti Japanese War, and work together to safeguard this inspiring national memory. Liu Yeqiang, Chairman of the New Territories Rural Council and member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, believes that the traffic terminal of the Hong Kong and Kowloon Independent Brigade of the Dongjiang Column embodies the great spirit of unity between Hong Kong and mainland compatriots to jointly resist foreign enemies.
