2025-05-15
According to the Hong Kong SAR Government Information Services Department on the 14th, holders of Hong Kong SAR passports can travel to Qatar and the United Arab Emirates without a visa (previously a visa on arrival), with a maximum stay of 30 days. The visa free entry period for Hong Kong SAR passport holders traveling to Oman has been extended from a maximum of 10 days to 14 days. It is reported that the measures regarding Qatar have come into effect on May 12th, and the other two measures will take effect on May 15th. The spokesman of the Immigration Department of the SAR Government said that Qatar, the United Arab Emirates and Oman are countries that jointly build the "the Belt and Road" and are also members of the Gulf Arab States Cooperation Council. Under the "the Belt and Road" initiative, these visa free and extended visa free stay arrangements have brought greater convenience to Hong Kong SAR passport holders and helped to strengthen Hong Kong's tourism, cultural and economic ties with relevant GCC member states. Currently, a total of 174 countries and regions have granted visa free or visa on arrival treatment to Hong Kong SAR passport holders, including all 6 member states of the Gulf Cooperation Council.
