The topping out ceremony for Buildings 8 and 9 of the first phase of the Hong Kong Industrial Park in the Hetao Shenzhen Hong Kong Science and Technology Innovation Cooperation Zone was held on the 21st, and Building 11 has also been fully completed, marking a new step for the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region in the fields of innovation and technology and Hong Kong Shenzhen innovation and technology cooperation. It is reported that buildings 8 and 9 are wet laboratory buildings that can provide equipment that meets different requirements for biological and chemical experiments. Building 11 is a talent apartment and is ready for immediate occupancy. Hong Kong Chief Executive Li Jiachao stated at the topping out ceremony that the Hetao Hong Kong Park is a "super platform" for the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region to serve as a "super contact" and "super value-added person". It will make good use of Hong Kong's high degree of internationalization and the advantage of gathering international high-end talents to build the Hetao into a bridgehead for national scientific and technological innovation, a demonstration field and incubator for high-end achievements. Li Jiachao stated that the SAR government will remove barriers and loosen restrictions for the development of the park, break through development limitations with a transformative mindset, actively explore policy support for the free flow of personnel, materials, funds, and data, and promote the integration of rules and mechanisms between the two regions with a spirit of reform and innovation. The Hetao Hong Kong Park covers an area of approximately 87 hectares and is developed in two phases from west to east. The country is highly concerned about the development of the Hetao Cooperation Zone, and the SAR government has been actively promoting the construction of the Hong Kong Industrial Park. The Special Administrative Region government released the "Development Outline for the Hong Kong Park of the Hetao Shenzhen Hong Kong Science and Technology Innovation Cooperation Zone" in November last year. With the completion of two wet laboratory buildings and a talent apartment, the Hong Kong campus will welcome the first batch of tenants from pillar industries such as life and health technology, artificial intelligence, and data science in the second half of this year, officially entering the operational phase. The SAR government is pushing forward at full speed with the construction of the remaining five buildings in the first phase, and has set aside HKD 3.7 billion this year to accelerate the completion of all construction in the first phase.
