2025-03-24

Starting from the 20th, the China Entry Exit Administration will issue temporary travel permits for Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan residents in need to travel to and from the mainland, and provide "dual certificate linkage" verification services for travel permits and residence permits. All sectors in Hong Kong welcome this. The Hong Kong Democratic Alliance for the Betterment and Progress of Hong Kong welcomes and appreciates the two new convenience measures, believing that they will help strengthen the two-way travel between Hong Kong and mainland residents, and further facilitate the living and residence of Hong Kong people in mainland China. Li Huiqiong, member of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, said that the two new arrangements launched by the Exit Entry Administration Bureau this time have helped to improve the convenience of people flow. For example, when Hong Kong people travel by plane or train in mainland China, if their documents are lost, damaged or forgotten to carry, they need to go from the airport or station to the local public security exit and entry management agency to obtain a paper certificate, which takes a long time to return and affects the journey. Under the new arrangement, as long as the temporary pass is successfully obtained, travel can proceed as usual. The latest arrangements have greatly improved the convenience for Hong Kong people to use government services in mainland China. Hong Kong Legislative Council member Wong Kwok believes that the two new measures fully demonstrate the advantages of the mainland in making good use of e-government, empowering with technology, continuously innovating immigration management services, effectively solving practical difficulties, and continuously providing convenience for Hong Kong people's living, employment, education, and elderly care in the mainland. The Ta Kung Pao published an editorial titled "Two Ways to Resolve the Difficulty of Travel: Discovering True Feelings in Small Details", stating that the Exit and Entry Administration Bureau has always focused on the needs and expectations of Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan residents, actively addressing their concerns and difficulties, and continuously optimizing its exit and entry management services. The Hong Kong Wen Wei Po published an editorial stating that the two new arrangements launched this time effectively solve practical difficulties, provide convenience for Hong Kong people to live, work, and do business in mainland China, and promote "big integration" with "small documents". The central government's policies of supporting and benefiting Hong Kong have gradually arrived, and Hong Kong should also actively respond by starting from small aspects to promote accelerated integration between the two places and achieve mutually beneficial and win-win development.
