Hong Kong launches first pilot low altitude economic projects to support industrial innovation and development

The Hong Kong SAR government held the launch ceremony of the "regulatory sandbox" for low altitude economy on the 20th and announced the first batch of pilot projects, hoping to gradually carry out pilot projects to enable citizens to "see and touch" the actual benefits brought by low altitude economy and inject new impetus into the Hong Kong economy. The Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Carrie Lam, served as the guest of honor at the opening ceremony and delivered a speech. He stated that the low altitude economy is a national strategic emerging industry and a model for developing new quality productive forces. The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government has received applications for the "Regulatory Sandbox" pilot project from 72 applicants. After review by the Low Altitude Economy Development Working Group, 38 of them have become the first batch of pilot projects to be promoted, covering multiple fields and application scenarios such as emergency rescue, logistics distribution, maintenance and safety inspection, monitoring, and low altitude infrastructure construction. Chen Meibao, the Secretary for Transport and Logistics of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, stated that some projects will begin trial implementation in April, with the first phase of the trial period lasting six months.
