The 144th Session of the International Olympic Committee will open and elect a new President of the International Olympic Committee

On March 18th local time, the 144th Session of the International Olympic Committee held its opening ceremony in ancient Olympia, Greece. From March 19th to 21st, the plenary session will be held on the coast of Navarino, Greece. The agenda includes listening to a report by the President of the International Olympic Committee, Bach, work reports from multiple departments of the International Olympic Committee, a summary report of the Paris Olympics, as well as preparations for the 2026 Milan Cortina d'Ampezzo Winter Olympics, 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, 2030 French Alps Winter Olympics, 2032 Brisbane Olympics, 2034 Salt Lake City Winter Olympics, and other matters. On March 20th, the plenary session will hold the International Olympic Committee President election, with a total of 7 candidates participating in the election. They are Faisal Hussein (Jordanian), David Lapartian (French), John Eliasch (dual British Swedish citizenship), Juan Antonio Samaranch (Spanish), Kirsty Coventry (Zimbabwean), Sebastian Kou (British), and Watanabe Shoucheng (Japanese).
